Spontaneous projects are great! We don’t waste time dreading an unpleasant task. Prep time is minimal if we have all the necessary ingredients. Splitting up the work makes it less taxing. Final result feels like a triumph!
As we sat relaxing, I had an impulse to wash the grease that had built up on our stove exhaust filters.
Yeah, I am fun that way.
I wasn’t sure whether my idea had registered with my dear darling mate. Suddenly, he put away his phone and headed for the kitchen.
“Where are you going?”
“You mentioned that we should clean the stove filters.”
I was driven to join him. After all, someone had to supervise!
We smothered the oily metal sheets in baking soda, vinegar, boiling water, and lemon juice. Thank goodness for a deep sink and lots of bulk supplies!
We let them soak. Scrubbed off the scum that floated off the metal. Rinsed and then floated them in sudsy water. One final bath in hot hot hot water made them look shiny and new.
Some results are quite satisfying.
We were inspired to reorganize some kitchen shelves, too!
I hope Santa takes notes all year long.
