“Projected Personas”
Day 97, #2026bigyearproject
How do others see you?
Do they focus on a particular trait, interest, feature, or tendency?
Would they create an exaggerated thumbnail, such as a caricature?
Is your aura lighthearted, somber, fanciful, or imaginative?
When my friend and I saw a display of books, I wanted to see how well I fit in the human-shaped opening. What fun! It looks as though I have been surrounded by book guardians.
My brother found an old sketch he had done of me more than forty years ago. He had forgotten all about it. I vaguely remembered seeing it once. When he texted me the drawing, it was fun to see which aspects of my appearance he captured with a few pencil lines.
Speaking of protection, how do you like the thought of me being a dragon warrior? I would eschew the metal breastplate, but the rest of the armor is imposing. I have my game face on! One of my chums created this version of me. What a hoot.
We leave impressions on the people we encounter. A tangential connection may have a significant effect. Long-term relationships may make us fairly invisible after a while. It’s hard to know what others think.
Superficial details might have lasting effects. There was the era of my Jane Fonda haircut. I used to get regular permanents at the hairdresser. Those big square plastic eyeglass frames that Amy Carter wore? Had ‘em myself. Platform shoes made me a bit taller. Regular long-distance walks and runs gave me sleek, muscular calves.
I am more interested in whether long conversations, work collaborations, and music rehearsals/performances help foster deeper understanding.
Then again, I have also befriended people when both of us liked the same song, dessert, or television show.
