“Doubt Layer”
Day 89, #2026bigyearproject
Bulb, soil, sunshine. These flowers were planted by optimistic hands long ago. The gardener knew there would be months of frost, snow, ice, fog, and mud before tendrils would pierce dark protective dirt and mulch.
The seed had to push its way through warm safe depths to reach the promised freedom of air. Rain will arrive over the next few days to nurture these new plants.
We took a long, brisk walk this afternoon in 80-degree weather to mail some cards at our local post office. I was fortunate to have my husband’s strong grip pulling me when I faltered. My knee is getting stronger, but I must work to keep it limber. Alone, I might have surrendered and asked for a ride. With my buddy’s encouragement, I finished the trek.
This weekend, Easter will be celebrated. It signifies the triumph of faith over destruction. We will rejoice that light won over darkness. Other religious practices have similar events during this season. Spring is when we pat ourselves on the back for surviving the shadow times.
When difficulties arise, we must carve a way up, out, and through layers of doubt. Even though it might feel easier to give up, we must prevail. We will surprise ourselves!
As we enter these brighter times, I hope we draw on the resilience and determination that we gained from our era beneath the ground.
Let us all rise. Let us all bloom!
